Self-isolating workers able to claim from day one
The Treasury Minister is to bring forward legislation to allow individuals to claim incapacity benefit from day one if they cannot work, after following advice to self-isolate.
Alfred Cannan will make the move in Tynwald next week.
Currently, individuals can only self-certify their sickness for seven days, after which a medical certificate is required. This will be extended to 14 days.
Mr Cannan says income support is also available for those who need additional financial support from the from the first day of self-isolation.
Anyone who is concerned or unsure of their entitlements should contact the Social Security Division on 685 656 for assistance.
Minister Cannan will be talking more about this in Breakfast on Manx Radio this coming Monday (16 March).
