Tynwald agreed to removal of benefits for over 75s
Treasury Minister Eddie Teare says he was legally unable to prevent the abolition of free TV licences for over 75s on the Island.
Tynwald agreed the move last year and the benefit - which wasn't means tested - came to an end today (Thurs)
Over 75's in the UK will continue to have their licence fees paid for by the British government.
Mr Teare says he looked into the possibility of reversing or delaying the move whilst talks with the BBC continued - but was unable to do so
