Vessel was 'out of optimum approach position' and had to turn sharply
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has confirmed 'minor injuries' were sustained by some passengers onboard Manxman today (11 August).
It's after she aborted her initial approach into Heysham Port this afternoon (following the 8:22am crossing from Douglas).
The master ordered the move as the vessel was seen to be 'out of optimum approach position'.
It involved a sharp turn to starboard, resulting in the vessel heeling to port and 'as a result of the manoeuvre and the rolling of the vessel a small number of minor injuries have been sustained onboard'.
No emergency services response was required.
The Steam Packet says the incident will be 'reported through the appropriate channels' and the company will 'cooperate fully with any resulting investigation, should one be deemed necessary'.
