Joint-efforts of police, RNLI and Coastguard in Douglas Bay
Police are praising the efforts of the Coastguard and RNLI after an extensive early morning search for a missing person across Douglas Bay (Dec 26).
At around midnight, a person was reported missing and a concerned member of the public contacted emergency services after seeing someone near the water.
The services joined forces to scour the shoreline and widen the operation to include the Tower of Refuge - before the individual was found 'safe and well'.
Operations sergeant for the central policing team Gavin Callow was working last night - he says the volunteers provide an essential service:
