Buying local 'just a phase' over lockdown says business
Island retailers don't buy enough local produce according to a prominent vegetable supplier.
Allansons Manx Produce says whilst sales shot up by 350 per cent in the peak of the coronavirus crisis - they're now back to the same numbers from the same time last year.
Owner Stuart Allanson is concerned that many retailers aren't supporting the local economy well enough:
A surge in people buying local over lockdown was 'just a phase' according to an Island butchers.
Craig Carroll at Manx Local Butchers says there was a rise of about 50 to 80 per cent at that time.
However since life has all but returned to normal on the Island, he says more people are buying elsewhere:
