Move is 'political gimmickry' - Henderson
A member of the Legislative Council says a bill which aims to allow only Keys members to vote for the chief minister is nothing more than 'political gimmickry'.
The Council of Ministers (Amendment) Bill has completed its passage through the House of Keys and will soon be considered by LegCo.
That means members of the council will have to decide whether to support or reject a change which would diminish their own power and influence in the Manx parliament.
Bill Henderson, who was elected to Legislative Council in March 2015, says there are other, more important issues to discuss.
He claims tinkering with the political process might be harmful to the Island's stability:

Business case for horse trams to be put before Tynwald in July
