Tanya August-Hanson inspired by student action
'I don't believe we always gather young people's thoughts and opinions on topics that affect them, as much as we need to.'
The belief of Tanya August-Hanson MLC as she seeks Tynwald approval to create a Manx Youth Parliament.
Recent political action from students across the Island, the presence of numerous school debate societies, and high voting turnout by those aged 16 and above, has provided Ms August-Hansen with the incentive to act.
Inspired by other youth parliaments around the world, Ms August-Hanson says she sees this as an opportunity to harness young people's enthusiasm in local politics.
