Old Castletown police station up for sale
An architectural historian says Manx National Heritage's status as a consultee on registered buildings effectively 'means nothing'.
Peter Kelly of the Isle of Man Victorian Society was speaking to Manx Radio about the future of the old Castletown Police Station.
An offer by MNH to take care of the station has been rejected after it was unprepared to meet Treasury's financial demands for the building.
Mr Kelly used the example of a previous planning application to demolish part of Baillie Scott's former home in Douglas, the 'Red House' on Victoria Road.
He says the plans went ahead anyway, despite MNH's objections:
Public invited to suggest new brownfield site for potential re-development
Anthony Allen re-elected as chair at Onchan Commissioners
Police urge public to check person's identification if claiming to be a police officer
No date set for reopening of NCAS reuse centre
