Steam engine memorabilia excites auction-goers
A name plate from an old Manx steam locomotive sold at auction this morning - for £4,800.
That's according to the Isle of Man Heritage Railways Volunteers - Steam Railway Facebook page.
The plate was from the engine named 'Mona', number five, which was one of the island’s first locomotives.
The antique item was sold by Great Central Railwayana Auctions in Warwickshire, UK.
Built in 1874, 'Mona' latterly saw service on the Peel line, but hasn't been used since it closed.
