
A bus drivers’ union representative has made fresh calls for the dispute to go to arbitration.
Billy Chesnut of Unite was speaking as the first bus strike hit home on the Island today.
In the past, the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure has resisted arbitration in the row, saying it has no extra money to pay out in the event of any imposed settlement.
But Mr Chesnut says it may be the only way to cut through the intractable arguments:
