Recent scheme deemed not fit for purpose
Recent road works at the entrance to Friary Park in Ballabeg will need to be done again.
The Department of Infrastructure is writing to residents in the surrounding area saying it has identified issues with the standard of workmanship which need to be corrected.
A table top ramp was installed to slow traffic down but the current version doesn't act as a traffic calming measure and is smaller than originally planned.
The department has instructed the contractor to rectify the faults at their own cost but no programme for road works is yet in place.
The letter says it will be in the New Year and will cause further disruption.
The original scheme was meant to last for three weeks but rolled out over several weeks during Autumn.
It was also dogged by a breakdown in communications over road closures and bus services.
