Island office WAS targeted by hackers
Law firm Appleby has confirmed client files from its Isle of Man office were targeted in a massive data breach.
The UK press is today reporting that the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists will release the information, relating to the finances of extremely wealthy individuals, this weekend.
Appleby says a number of its offices were hit by the hack, including the one on Athol Street in Douglas - and branded those behind it 'criminals'.
Today's Telegraph newspaper quotes international tax expert Ronen Palan as saying he expects the release to tarnish the 'clean' reputation offshores have strived to pride themselves on.
