More targeted approach to school work experience, says Minister

Daphne Caine believes nature of placements has changed in recent times

The Education Minister believes there is now a 'more meaningful, and targeted approach' to providing work experience to students in the Island's schools.

The subject of what schemes are available to young people in secondary schools was debated during this week's Tynwald sitting.

When asked by fellow politicians what is currently available, Daphne Caine says they've seen a change in the availability and nature of work experience placements in recent years.

Among the challenges, she says, are shifting work patterns such as increases in hybrid and remote working as well as 'capacity pressures' on certain companies:
