A mortar has been safely removed from Smeale beach.
Ramsey Coastguard was called out at 2pm yesterday after a member of public spotted the ordnance.
Officers sent photos of the object to the Department of Defence in the UK, who confirmed it was safe to handle.
The team moved the mortar to a safe storage facility and returned to the Coastguard station for 5pm.
