
A motorcyclist from Port St Mary is recovering in hospital after being seriously injured in a road accident in Ballasalla last night (Wedy 30).
The 24-year old suffered broken bones and is undergoing an operation at Noble's later today but his condition is not life threatening.
His Triumph motorbike hit a Ford transit van in the southbound carriageway of Castletown Road between Blackboards corner and Ballasalla at just after 6pm.
The road was closed for several hours while police dealt with the incident and officers have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses to come forward.
The van driver, a 31 year old man from Ballasalla, was not hurt.
