'Operation Uplift' aims to improve standards
Motorists are being urged to ensure they are ‘fit for the road’.
A new police initiative has been launched to tackle anti-social driving and improve the standards of vehicles using the Island’s roads.
‘Operation Uplift’ started on Thursday (29 February).
Officers stopped 57 vehicles, at The Grandstand in Douglas, to check their licences, insurance and tax as well as roadworthiness and emissions.
- 11 vehicle defect rectification notices were issued
- 1 enforceable fixed penalty notice was issued for a tyre related offence
- 2 vehicles failed emissions tests
- 2 vehicles had expired road tax
‘Operation Uplift’ will continue to run over the coming weeks and months.
The Isle of Man Constabulary says it will conduct check points Island wide and attend areas where anti-social behaviour is frequently reported.
