Staffing levels unchanged despite 900% increase in demand
Patients in urgent need of MRI scans must wait up to a month for one at Noble's Hospital.
The figure was revealed by Health Minister Kate Beecroft, in response to a written query from Onchan MHK Rob Callister.
Mrs Beecroft says demand for the scans, which are used to detect conditions such as cancer and heart disease, has 'increased significantly' since MRI equipment was installed in 2003.
Over 3,000 scans were carried out last year - but only four full-time staff are trained to operate the machine.
The waiting time for a non-urgent scan is as high as 26 weeks.
