Residents may notice a slight discolouration caused by the disturbance
Manx Utilities says the situation which left some Onchan residents without water yesterday for a number of hours has now been resolved.
A burst on the water main that services the Cronk Ny Mona Reservoir resulted in an emergency repair.
"The water is pumped from Douglas Water Treatment plant. This is a critical main and we had no choice but to do an emergency repair. Cronk Ny Mona Service Reservoir feeds all the high level areas in Douglas and Onchan as well as onwards to Laxey and Baldrine."
Manx Utilities says while it was repaired by 2pm, low water level and no water in the Service Reservoir meant that some customers experienced an interruption to their supply.
"At peak evening time this was difficult and took some time and it was around 10pm before the water level was sufficient to feed the pumps and for the system to recharge.
"We were able to keep the vast majority of customers on Cronk Ny Mona suppled with water. Unfortunately some customers experienced an interruption to their supply for a number of hours. This was unavoidable and we apologise to those customers for the inconvenience."
MU says there may be some slight discolouration caused by the disturbance of the water mains and it is investigating a solution it can provide for an alternative feed in case of future bursts on this main.
