Jams yesterday, but no jams today
The Manx Utilities Authority says motorists in Ballasalla should have a slightly easier time of it today – after problems with temporary traffic lights during last night’s rush hour.
Motorists on the New Castletown Road found themselves queuing as far north as Blackboards corner last night because of the traffic control timings near the Whitestone Pub.
The police said they’d been flooded with calls to the Emergency Services Joint Control Room in Douglas from irate drivers.
Last night, the MUA said it would put the lights on manual override during peak periods, from 8am today.
On its Twitter feed, the organisation apologised for any inconvenience caused.
