Ian Anderson denies murdering wife's lover in 2013
The jury in the retrial of a former Castletown resident accused of murdering his ‘love rival’ has this morning (24 May) retired to consider its verdict.
Ian Anthony Anderson is standing trial following the death of 60-year-old Neil Edward Roberts almost a decade ago.
The gardener, who was having an affair with the 55-year-old’s wife, was found dead at the Anderson's Queen Street home in the early hours of 1 December 2013.
Yesterday (23 May) Deemster Graeme Cook told jurors: “It is your task, and yours alone, to decide where the truth lies.”
Instructing them to judge the evidence in the case fairly he told them to put emotions and speculation aside.
The 11 jurors are tasked with determining if Mr Anderson murdered the Ballabeg resident or whether he committed manslaughter by reason of provocation or diminished responsibility.
They were sent out to start their deliberations just before 9.55am.
