Murder trial finishes hearing evidence

The murder trial of a Castletown man has finished hearing evidence from witnesses.

Forty-six-year-old Ian Anderson denies the murder of 60-year-old Ballabeg man Neil Roberts in late 2013.

Clinical psychologist Doctor Mark Bradley was the final witness who spoke at Douglas Courthouse on Thursday.

Dr Bradley did an International Personality Disorder Exam with Mr Anderson.

Dr Bradley talked about Mr Anderson's relationship with his wife and the extreme fluctuations of feeling towards her – one moment idealising her and the next devaluing her.

Mrs Jones, defending, asked Dr Bradley about when Mr Anderson didn’t remember parts of the night of the alleged murder.

Dr Bradley said it was common to forget parts of a traumatic experience .

The court heard how Mr Roberts shared characteristics with Mr Anderson’s father –they were both charming characters, liked a drink and both put on personas that weren’t necessarily true to what they were like privately.

Dr Bradley said Mr Anderson had what he termed as probable emotionally unstable personality disorder.

On night of the incident Dr Bradley said this disorder meant extremely heightened emotions would’ve been at play.

The trial will continue on Tuesday, April 14th.
