End in sight for year-long dispute
The year-long dispute between teaching unions and education bosses may be drawing to a close.
In a ballot held today (23 Nov), 97 per cent of members of the NAHT who voted accepted the latest proposal by government.
Turnout was 66.9 per cent.
It seeks to address historic issues of pay parity with the UK, and includes a commitment to work more closely with teachers on education policies.
The deal also includes a 'reopener clause' to review wages here when changes are made in the UK.
The NAHT has called a halt to its industrial action short of strike.
It's not yet known if other unions involved in the dispute with government have accepted the offer.
