20-year-old apologises to court after Hairpin stop
A Douglas motorist has been fined £430 after being stopped during TT week in a car which was full of defects.
John Charles Philip Bridson, of Ballanard Road, was pulled over by police at the Ramsey Hairpin on 4 June.
The 20-year-old’s Ford Focus was found to have issues with the handbrake, steering, lights, exhaust and battery; the seats and seat belts were also poorly fitted.
Bridson admitted having a vehicle in a dangerous condition, via postal admission, at Douglas Courthouse; the court heard he’d since been making efforts to rectify the issues.
He told the court he was ‘sorry’ to appear before the court adding the vehicle had been in a worse condition than he’d realised when he bought it.
Fining him, and ordering him to pay £50 in prosecution costs, Magistrates told the court: “I think this man has been rather naive.”
Bridson’s driving licence was also endorsed with three penalty points.
