The Teachers' Union is calling on government to reopen talks with Unite
A union on the Isle of Man has spoken out in support of the ongoing bus driver strikes.
Members of Unite the Union are currently taking part in industrial action in a long-running dispute with bus vannin over pay and working conditions.
This weekend, members are striking for the second time in as many weeks and are planning further action every weekend in March.
Now, the NASUWT - The Teachers' Union - has sent its support to its sister union, urging government to commit to further talks to resolve the dispute.
Its secretary, Geraldine O'Neill, says bus vannin workers are providing an essential service and deserve working conditions that reflect the vital work they do.
She's calling on government to reopen talks with Unite so a fair resolution can be found and further disruption to bus services can be avoided.
The Department of Infrastructure, which operates bus vannin, says it remains ready and willing to have positive and constructive negotiations and is committed to reaching an agreement that doesn't increase bus fares or reduce services.
