Nationalists in the Isle of Man are hoping a Scottish referendum about leaving the United Kingdom could lead to renewed interest in Manx independence.
Mark Kermode of Mec Vannin says the news about Scotland comes after Jamaica announced it wanted to abandon the Queen as head of state and become a republic.
He says that's one of the goals of Manx nationalists, and Jamaica could be pointing the way ahead.
However, Mr Kermode says the Manx government is currently showing no appetite for independence (listen to audio file below):
