Costs are rising year on year
Nearly £13 million has been spent by the Isle of Man Government over the past five years on supply teachers.
The figures have been released as part of a Freedom of Information request.
The response reveals £12,933,080.28 has been spent between September 2019 and August 2024.
It also shows the cost is on the rise year on year.
From September 2019 to August 2020, £1,822,614.43 was spent on supply teachers.
From September 2020 to August 2021 the cost was £2,219,023.81.
From September 2021 to August 2022, it was £2,687,140.66.
From September 2022 to August 2023, £2,896,928.
And from September 2023 to August 2024, £3,307,373.38.
