22 people arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs
Police have released figures relating to drink and drug driving over the festive period.
Between 29 November and 4 January the Roads Policing Unit ran Operation Ripple Effect working in partnership with the Road Safety Team and local neighbourhood policing teams.
In total 198 vehicles were stopped.
Of these 117 were identified to have a defect, nine drivers committed documentation offences (those being no licence, no insurance or no tax) and 22 were arrested on suspicion of driving or being in charge of a vehicle whilst under the influence of drink or drugs.
The Isle of Man Constabulary says those who make the deliberate choice to get behind the wheel of a car, or ride a motorcycle, whilst under the influence or drink or drugs 'pose a risk to those of us carrying out our daily business'.
It goes on to say that police will continue to patrol the Island's roads and will approach those who make the wrong decision in a swift and robust manner.
Officers are urging people to make the 'right choice' in 2025 and beyond.
