Tragic accident during Superstock race
TT organisers have announced the death of a rider in today's Superstock TT (7 June).
Jochem van den Hoek was killed in an accident at the 11th Milestone on the first lap of the race, the ACU has confirmed.
The 28-year old from Werkendam is described as a 'seasoned competitor' in international road racing, and was the first rider from the Netherlands to compete in the TT for three years.
He made his TT Mountain Course debut in 2016, recording a 44th place in his first race, the Superbike TT. He also competed in last year's Superstock and Senior TT races.
He had competed twice at the Southern 100 circuit.
Mr van den Hoek was treated at the scene for his injuries, no further details about the accident have been released.
ACU Events Ltd has offered its deepest sympathy to the rider's family and friends.
