Tynwald members voted unanimously for the motion
Work will start in the next few days on a £2 million-scheme that will lead to the building of a new school in Castletown.
Tynwald has approved the cash.
The task of replacing the present Castle Rushen High School will now get underway.
Initially that will involve creating new playing fields, which will serve the school prior to a new school taking shape on the present playing fields.
A two-plateau terrace will be created, giving room for football pitches, a cricket pitch and cricket nets.
Later it's planned to build other sports facilities, including a rugby pitch on the part of the current playing fields, which are not being built on.
Tynwald has voted unanimously for the motion, moved by the recently appointed Education Minister Dr Alex Allinson.
Island Drainage and Ground Works have confirmed they will start work at the weekend.
