Animal Welfare Act comes into force next week
People on the Isle of Man who mistreat animals will face harsher penalties from 1 June when new laws come into force.
The long-awaited Animal Welfare Act 2023 will mean owners and people responsible for cats, dogs and many other domestic animals are, for the first time, legally required to ensure their welfare.
Currently only livestock are afforded legal protection from cruelty under Manx law.
A series of animal welfare codes have been published online to help owners.
