Foreign nationals who want to settle permanently in the Isle of Man will, from next month, have to pass an English speaking test, as well as a cultural exam.
Applicants will have to prove their communication skills - both listening to and speaking English - and successfully complete a written 'Life in the UK and Islands' test.
The change to immigration and British Citizen applications will come into effect on October 28.
Exams will be held quarterly at Isle of Man College, with the possibility of becoming more regular.
