The Island's new Bishop says he wants to look to the future of the church on the Island.
The Right Reverend Robert Paterson, the 86th Bishop of Sodor and Mann, was enthroned in Peel over the weekend, having preached his first sermon last Thursday at the ancient parish church of Malew.
In his address to a packed cathedral, Bishop Robert made it clear that whilst he values tradition he has no wish to dwell in the past, and is keen to see a vibrant church which is in tune with today's society:
At the end of his enthronement service Bishop Robert invited anyone who wanted to join him in a walk down to St Patrick's Isle and the ruins of a church whose origins go back to the fifth century.
