More powers for police and courts, more protection for victims
New domestic abuse laws, introduced on the Isle of Man this week, have been described as a 'game changer' for victims and police.
The act came into force yesterday (4 January), which granted the Constabulary and the courts more powers to prosecute perpetrators of abuse.
That includes recognising coercive and controlling behaviour as a crime for the first time in the Island's history.
