New laws could soon mean all election candidates will have to tell the public who has been backing their campaign, before the polls open.
In the House of Keys this week, Chief Minister Tony Brown steered new legislation, designed to change the way Manx elections are run, through its first reading.
Top of the list are spending limits and requirements for candidates to declare who has been giving money to their campaign.
Mr Brown says the system will ensure voters know where their candidates' funds have been coming from:
