Warning from Isle of Man FSA
Members of the public are being urged not to deal with unauthorised financial service providers.
The warning's come from the FSA in response to a new scam targeting Manx investors.
The scammers have attempted to use the name of a genuine Isle of Man company and Financial Services Authority logos.
A copy of a fraudulent letter sent to an Isle of Man resident is described by the FSA as an amateurish attempt at using its logos to claim the financial arrangements offered are in some way authorised or overseen by the Authority.
The genuine Isle of Man company mentioned within the letter has not consented to its details being used and has no connection whatsoever with the author of the document.
The letter purporting to be of Canadian origin relates to a Cooperate investment portfolio and outlines a list of fake charges and taxes, which need to be paid.
Anybody with concerns should contact Police or the FSA enforcement division on 689311.
