
Smoking in your car could in future land you in breach of the Highway Code - if a new version of the handbook in the UK is adopted here.
It contains several new rules and definitions which could become grounds for conviction for driving without due care and attention.
They include smoking in the car - or arguing with your passengers - if doing so leads to an accident.
Transport Minister David Anderson says ANYTHING which distracts the driver should be avoided.
But his department will look at the new rules closely to see which are relevant here:
