The site of the old Glencrutchery treatment works is set to be redeveloped, after the Water Authority was granted planning permission in principle for housing there.
The area is currently being decommissioned, following the opening of a new Douglas treatment works in May last year.
A planning application was also submitted for commercial development of the 1.6 acre site, although it was turned down.
Water Authority chief executive John Smith hopes the site will be ready for sale to a developer soon:
