Devon Watson appointed to role for two years
The new leader of Douglas City Council says he wants to improve the quality of housing in the capital.
Devon Watson has been appointed to the position for a two-year term following April's local authority elections.
"I pay almost £1,600 a month in rent. I see young people leave the Island all the time. I see pensioners who are stuck in grinding poverty because they're stuck between low pensions and high rental costs."
Speaking on the Mannin Line this lunchtime, he described housing as one of the 'core issues' facing the Isle of Man as a whole.
