The present holder of the post, Anthony Hewitt, is retiring.
The opportunity comes at a crossroads for audio and visual entertainment on the Island with the arrival of digital services.
And there's currently debate over the future of Digital Audio Broadcasting in the UK with the retreat of GCap from much of its commitment.
The new Director will also be tasked with achieving maximum television coverage for the island and to regulate the three on-Island radio stations.
