Gaelg Aboo! project is part of Year of the Manx Language celebrations
Girlguides and scouts on the Isle of Man can now earn a badge dedicated to the Manx language.
The Gaelg Aboo! (Hurray for Manx!) project is designed for children and young people aged four to 18 as part of the 2026 Year of the Manx Language celebrations.
It's hoped the badge will introduce younger children to Manx before they encounter it in school, as well as reconnecting those who may have stopped learning the language.
Culture Vannin has put together a handbook featuring more than 30 creative and practical activities to explore everyday Manx phrases, and is available to scout and guide leaders worldwide.
