The new Mayor of Douglas says he is 'honoured' to be chosen and is looking forward to working with a new council.

Steven Crellin has been unanimously elected and sworn in at a formal ceremony and will serve in the role for the next year.

He takes over from Councillor Natalie Byron-Teare who said he will serve the residents of Douglas with 'great determination and passion'.

Councillor Crellin adds he's 'optimistic' for the next year and wants to foster an 'inclusive and vibrant' community.

Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper spoke to him after the ceremony:

Councillor Peter Washington was elected to serve as Deputy Mayor for the next year.

He said during the ceremony: "Mr Crellin was elected in 2021 and successfully re-elected again in 2025. I have lots of people, councillors and officers who I can draw on, should I need any advice but I should say the first person I always call on is Steven Crellin.

"I know he will do the city and this council proud."
