Follows health and safety concerns
The opening time of the Southern Recycling Centre (SRC) will be pushed back an hour to 10am from Monday.
It comes after health and safety experts advised it was 'unacceptable' to have 'hook wagons' at the facility whilst it's open to the public.
The large vehicles will now have a 'two-hour window' before 10am to offload waste at the site.
The SRC board says the move was necessary to comply with safety procedures, but accepts the change may inconvenience some.
It's exploring options to keep the site open later on certain days as compensation for the lost hour.
The reuse area remains closed due to structural problems with the building, whilst work is ongoing to open it 'as soon as practicably possible'.
