Young people who want to buy cigarettes and alcohol will have to apply for a new-look card to prove they're over 18.
From July, proof of age cards will be issued by the government's Customer First unit, which is taking over the role from the Office of Fair Trading on 1 July.
Regulations to allow the change go for Tynwald approval today (Tues)
The cards are shown to retailers by people over 18 who want to buy age-restricted goods which also include petrol, videos, solvents and fireworks.
Application forms can be downloaded from the government website or collected from the Welcome Centre.
Previously issued proof-of-age cards remain valid.
