People who want to fish for Queen Scallops in Manx waters are going to need a new licence.
It's part of the Environment Department's to protect Queen Scallop stock numbers.
A number of measures were introduced last year and the licence will add to those.
Everyone fishing in Manx waters will need the new licence for the beginning of this year's season. It's free of charge, and the department says it'll contact all fishing licence holders to see if they want theirs to be amended.
Minister Phil Gawne believes this will a valuable tool in achieving a sustainable industry.
The department carried out a consultation exercise starting at the end of last year to find out what interested parties thought of the protection measures that had already been brought in.
These included a minimum landing size, a defined zone where dredges can be used and a nighttime curfew.
There were 30 responses to the consultation, with just two opposing the measures.
