Acting deemster has re-joined a firm in Leicester despite stepping down here due to ill health
The deemster at the heart of an 'unprecedented' legal case has re-joined his old firm despite 'significant health difficulties' which deemed him unfit to preside here.
Acting Deemster James Corbett KC resigned from a multi-million-pound insurance case after his health issues, which include a serious fall and a stroke.
A combination of two cases, the legal case is the first ever group litigation claim to be issued on the Isle of Man, involving 739 claimants.
It centres around the alleged mis-selling of investment products by Friends Provident International Limited and Utmost International Isle of Man.
Both firms deny the claims - you can read more HERE.
However, despite stepping back from the case due to ill health, it appears the deemster has taken up a new role elsewhere.
He has re-joined a firm in Leicester (2 New Street Chambers) as a door tenant.
Mr Corbett previously studied there as a trainee.
