Flybe start their Luton route this weekend.
They took up the challenge after the Airport Authorities asked a number of airlines if they were prepared to fly to the North London destination. The route was abandoned by Aer Arrann earlier this year.
The first flight is due to leave at midday on Sunday.
Airport Director Anne Reynolds (pictured) says after problems since the BA Connect takeover, Flybe are anxious to impress:
