High regard for Noble's breast unit
The Island's new consultant breast surgeon has praised facilities at Noble's hospital - and says she has plans to develop the service.
Stella Charalampous who has moved to the Island from Cyprus, outlined the latest thinking on breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention at a public event in Douglas last night, which was organised by the Cancer Services User Forum.
Dr Stella has planned a trial of 3D mammograms in conjunction with a UK hospital, using equipment purchased for the new breast unit through charitable donations from the Manx public.
It's expected other breast centres will watch the trial closely, to see how far detection rates increase.
