Expected service made 'crystal clear'
The Health Minister is promising patients who travel off-Island for hospital appointments will receive 'first class service' with her Department's new taxi provider.
ComCab Liverpool is set to take over patient transfer operations from 27 March.
The DHSC says there will be 'no change in service' from the previous contractor, Bridgewater.
Minister Kate Beecroft thanked the firm for their longstanding service, and said she understood the 'strength of feeling' towards staff - after a public outcry when news of the switch broke a fortnight ago.
In a statement, she goes onto say the standard expected of ComCab was made 'crystal clear' to them during the tender process, which favoured cost and quality in equal measure.
Bidders were assessed on criteria including existing contracts, adaptability for specific needs and driver competence.
ComCab's existing clients include West Midlands hospitals and the North West Air Ambulance Service - with operations carried UK-wide, with a 350-strong fleet of accessible vehicles.
