Genomic sequencing shows Kent and South African strains
New variants of Covid-19 have reached the Isle of Man.
The news was confirmed by the director of public health at a coronavirus media conference this afternoon.
Genomic sequencing results show there have been five cases of the new UK variant – described as the Kent strain – and one case of the South African.
Dr Henrietta Ewart confirmed they were all picked up in returning travellers:
