Higher standards being introduced says Minister
New equipment to test for vehicle emissions is expected to be introduced in around 12 months time.
That was confirmed in the House of Keys this morning (Tues 26), following a question from Middle MHK Bill Shimmins.
He wanted to know what equipment is available to the vehicle testing centre to check what comes out of car exhausts, and if vehicles were currently checked.
Department of Infrastructure Minister, Ray Harmer, told the House full calibrated emission tests are not currently a requirement, but he was hoping to introduce higher standards soon.
